اَلْغُرَابُ وَالْجَرَّةُ
عَطِشَ غُرَابٌ وَأَرَادَ الشُّرْبَ، وَطَفِقَ يَبْحَثُ عَنْ مَاءٍ فِيْ كُلِّ مَاجَاوَرَهُ مِنَ الْجِهَاتِ. فَخَابَ سَعْيُهُ وَلَمْ يَجِدْ إِلَّا جَرَّةً فِيْ قَعْرِهَا قَلِيْلٍ مِنَ الْمَاءِ، لَمْ يَقْدِرْ أَنْ يَصِلَ إِلَيْهِ لِبُعْدِ غَوْرِهَا وَلِطُوْلِ عُنُقِهَا. وَلَكِنَّ الْعَطَشَ اشْـتَدَّ بِهِ، فَأَعْمَلَ فِكْرَهُ فِيْ تَدْبِـيْرِ حِيْلَةٍ يَرْفَعُ بِهَا الْمَاءُ إِلَيْهِ، مَادَامَ هُوَ غَيْرَ قَادِرٍ عَلَى الْوُصُوْلِ إِلَى الْمَاءِ، وَصَمَّمَ عَلَى أَلَّا يَتْرُكَ الْمَكَانَ، حَتَّى يَشْرَبَ مِنْ تِلْكَ الْجَرَّةِ. وَقَالَ فِيْ نَفْسِهِ "إِذَا صَدَقَ الْعَزْمُ وَضَحَ السَّـبِيْلُ."
عِنْدَ ذٰلِكَ الْتَفَتْ حَوْلَهُ، فَرَأَى حِجَارَةً صَغِيْرَةً كَثِيْرَةً، فَذَهَبَ إِلَيْهَا وَأَخَذَ وَاحِدًا بِمِنْقَارِهِ، وَرَمَاهُ فِي الْجَرَّةِ، فَارْتَفَعَ الْمَاءُ قَلِيْلًا. فَعَادَ وَجَاءَ بِغَيْرِهِ. فَزَادَ ارْتِفَاعُ الْمَاءِ. فَأَدْرَكَ أَنَّهُ إِذَا اسْتَـمَرَّ عَلَى عَمَلِهِ هٰذَا وَدَأَبَ عَلَيْهِ، بَلَغَ غَايَتَهُ وَأَطْفَأَ حَرَارَةَ عَطَشِهِ. فَلَبِثَ يَنْقُلُ الْحِجَارَةَ وَيَرْمِيْهَا فِيْ جَوْفِ الْجَرَّةِ، وَالْمَاءُ يَرْتَفِعُ فِيْهَا قَلِيْلًا قَلِيْلًا، حَتَّى أَمْكَنَهُ أَنْ يَصِلَ إِلَيْهِ أَخِيْرًا، فَشَرِبَ حَتَّى رَوِيَ بَعْدَ صَبْرِهِ وَجِدِّهِ وَكَذٰلِكَ "كَلَّ مَنْ جَدَّ وَجَدَ."
English Version:
The Crow and The Jar
A crow was thirsty and wanted to drink, and he started looking for water in all his surroundings. His effort was failed, and he found nothing but a jar with a little water at the bottom of it, which he could not reach because of its depth and the length of its neck. But the thirst intensified in him, so he put his mind to a trick which could raise the water to him as long as he was unable to reach the water, and he resolved not to leave the place until he drinks from that jar. He said to himself, “If there is a will, there is a way"
At that he turned around and saw many small stones, so he went to them and took one with his beak and threw it into the jar, and the water rose a little. He came back and brought another one. The height of the water increased. He realized that if he continued this work and persevered upon it, he would reach his goal and quench the heat of his thirst. So he moved the stones and threw them into the hollow of the jar, and the water rose in it little by little, until he was able to reach it at last, so he drank until satisfied after his patience and earnestness, as well as “whoever strives shall succeed.”
Terjemahan:
Seekor Gagak dan Sebuah Botol
Seekor gagak merasa haus dan ingin minum. Ia mulai mencari air di sekitarnya ke segala arah. Tapi usahanya gagal dan ia tidak menemukan kecuali sebuah botol yang di dasarnya ada sedikit air. Ia tidak bisa mencapainya karena dasarnya jauh dan panjangnya leher botol. Tapi rasa hausnya bertambah. Maka ia memikirkan cara agar air naik kepadanya, selama dia tidak bisa mencapai air. Ia bertekad untuk tidak meninggalkan tempat itu, sampai ia minum dari botol tersebut. Ia berkata pada dirinya sendiri, "Jika ada kemauan, pasti ada jalan."
Pada saat itu ia menoleh ke sekelilingnya, kemudian ia melihat banyak bebatuan kecil. Ia menghampirinya dan mengambil sebuah dengan paruhnya. Kemudian ia melemparkannya ke dalam botol. Maka air naik sedikit. Kemudian ia kembali dan mengambil yang lain. Maka tinggi air bertambah. Maka ia tahu jika ia meneruskan perbuatan ini dan tekun atasnya, ia akan mencapai tujuannya dan memadamkan gerah dahaganya. Kemudian ia memindahkan batu-batu itu dan melemparkannya ke dasar botol. Dan air di dalamnya naik sedikit demi sedikit, sampai ia mampu mencapainya pada akhirnya. Kemudian ia minum sampai puas setelah kesabaran dan kesungguhannya, dan demikianlah "Siapa yang bersungguh-sungguh akan berhasil."

Jika kita memliki kemampuan yang kuat, maka akan memperoleh jalan dalam meraihnya. Yang kita perlukan adalah sungguh-sungguh berusaha agar meraih keberhasilan.
